This year was the first year we had spent alone for Christmas. We have decided travelling over Christmas is really difficult and the older your children get the harder it is. So this year we decided to stay home and have Christmas with just our little family. I’m not gonna lie, this year was a little more difficult for me to get into the Christmas spirit for some reason. Quite possibly because the weather was so warm, but I just wasn’t feeling it. But we tried to get in the spirit anyway and did some Christmas events.
One of my favorite events was going to see Frosty the Snowman with Nixon’s class. It really was a lot of fun!
The boys absolutely love helping me decorate for holidays. They especially love decorating for Christmas. Andy typically puts up the tree with the boys, but had too much going on, so I let Nixon do it. He was excited. It was definitely a bit more tricky than he thought it was going to be.
Dec. 7th-11th Nixon got to be star of the week. He was excited. We made a poster, ate lunch at his school and brought his class donuts..of course.
Meeting Santa at the mall was a pretty magical moment for Watson. We were inside of a store and Santa spotted him from across the mall and came over to greet him. It was very sweet and very touching. Not to mention Watson was super nice the rest of the time we were at the mall, cuz he was nervous Santa was watching him.
Last year we started the tradition of having a Christmas Eve dinner party. Last year my parents and brother came. My dad and mom played the parts of Santa and Santa’s helper. This year our Santa was played by our friend Josh. Santa was a bit skinny this year. It was hilarious! But he did awesome.
Two of my friends Stara and Telicia helped me decorate the church. They were so helpful and made everything look amazing!
Unfortunately, I didn’t take a whole lot of pictures, but this is good enough for documentation.
Afterwards we went home exhausted. Andy went to put the boys to bed and I got to work. Andy fell asleep putting the boys to bed, and I went up to wake him up to help me. He got up, out of it, and went straight to our room to go back to sleep. Needless to say, I was up LATE that night. Next year he will have to redeem himself. Wink, Wink.
